What is a flashpacker?

There are several different definitions in the urban dictionary to pull from so we chose to create our own as a combination of them all with some added points that we deem important.

We define “flashpacker” as a semi-affluent backpacker relying on technology and life skills combined. Travellers whom have had experience navigating the globe traditionally but choose to travel smart… not hard. They are older and perhaps travel with children. Ipads, Google maps, Air B&B etc… are not uncommon tools of the “flashpacker” thus making it much easier to make plans or change them on a whim. The ”flashpacker” most definitely relies on a budget but is not afraid to shell out a bit more should a small comfort present itself. A key characteristic of a “flashpacker” as defined by us is the humanitarian purpose to travelling. Having an agenda geared towards helping others is at the forefront of their itinerary and gets worked into their plans at every available moment.
